Virginia CEC’s 49^th Annual Conference

Call for Proposals

Deadline for proposal submission is July 15, 2008 

         The Virginia Council for Exceptional Children (VA CEC) is seeking proposals for presentations at our 49^th annual conference to be held in Fredericksburg, Virginia October 4, 2008. 

Guidelines for Proposals: 
The proposals should address one of the following topic areas:   Assessment      Intervention       Research

Obligations of Presenters:

1. All presenters must be registered for the conference. Space is limited register early. Please note you must choose to register for the day-long workshop, or individual sessions. 
2. To encourage broad program participation, an individual may only be included as a session leader or presenter in one demonstration, lecture, or panel presentation.
3. The concurrent presentations will be 50-minute sessions followed by 10 minutes for discussion.
4. Material for intended audience must be electronically submitted by August 20, 2008. Attendees should download materials prior to the conference. No paper packets of information will be distributed at the conference. 
5. All presenters are responsible for providing their own presentation equipment. Equipment will not be provided by CEC. 

Selection Criteria: 

1. Importance and timeliness of the topic to the field (10 points)
2. Quality of the proposal (8 points)   
3. Relevancy of the content or practice to learners, families, and/or educators from diverse groups (12 points)
4. Evidence of the effectiveness of the practice or content to be presented (20 points)
5. No proposal will be considered after July 15, 2008.
